St. Mary’s Church

Greystone church of Pojo built in the 1400s.

Pojo church was built in the 15th century. The church was built using local materials: around 8,500 stones, 40,000 bricks and 24,000 roof tiles.

The church building tells of past centuries and there is a lot of history to see! Some of the woodwork is from the 13th century, the stone walls are from the 15th century, the pews are from the 17th century, the funnel and the old organ facade are from the 19th century and the organ in use today is from the 20th century. The altar in the church is from the 21st century, as the church was renovated in 2001. However, the biggest change during the renovation was the lighting of the church, which was completely redesigned.

The address of the church is Gamla Åbovägen 79, Skuru. Read more about the church and see opening hours here (only in Swedish).
