Thorvald Strömberg Memorial
The paddler Thorvald Strömberg is Raseborg's so far only Olympic Gold Medalist.
The memorial dedicated to Thorvald Strömberg was inaugurated 25 May 2012 in Våghusparken in Ekenäs. The chairman of the Board of the Finnish Olympic Committee, Roger Talermo, unveiled the monument. The paddler Thorvald Strömberg is Raseborg’s first and so far only Olympic Gold Medalist. Winner of the Olympic Games in 1952, Strömberg is also a double World Champion. The monument is designed and manufactured by the artist Ron Nordström, who is stationed in Fiskars. The monument made by stainless steel represents Strömberg’s time in the 10,000-metre race in paddling.
